At 10,000-11,000ft grows the Bristlecone Pine. The oldest living things on the face of the planet. The oldest of them being the "Methuselah Pine" at over 4,800 years old! We sent out on the "Methuselah Trail" in search for this unmarked tree. Every time we thought we found it, there was another candidate right around the corner.
The Visitor’s Center was burnt down in an act of arson just a couple weeks before our arrival. The date we were there was the 50th anniversary of the park and they were holding a celebration and book signing.
